GU2O Ingredients & Benefits

If you sweat it out, we put it back in.

GU2O’s five essential ingredients—electrolytes (sodium and potassium), carbohydrates (maltodextrin and fructose) and natural flavor—mixed with water keep the world’s hardest working athletes hydrated through the most intense training and competitions on the planet. GU’s sport drink is the result of over 5 years of testing among thousands of elite endurance athletes. They know it works, and so do athletes the world over who’ve come to the same conclusion.

Drink it during any exercise, from yoga to a 100-mile run. It’ll keep you hydrated and that reduces fatigue, muscle cramps and lactic acid build-up. Put simply: staying hydrated with electrolyte-infused GU2O is vital to helping you go faster, longer. For a knock-out combination, use GU2O alongside a regular intake of GU Energy Gel and GU’s newest gel, Roctane. GU2O serves as the perfect hydration companion to both.

Here’s what GU2O’s five essential components can do to maintain your best performance:

Sodium is a vital electrolyte that speeds rehydration and helps the body retain fluid. During exercise you leach this stuff out. Putting it back in ensures that your body can rehydrate.

Potassium is another electrolyte your body needs to replace. Like sodium it helps the body hold onto the precious fluid you consume during exercise. It also helps your neuromuscular system fire on all cylinders.

Maltodextrin is the main fuel source in GU2O at 85% of the carbohydrate mix. A corn-based complex carbohydrate that’s easily digestible, it provides a long-lasting energy boost without causing stomach upset. Its presence in the gut also speeds the digestion of the electrolytes above.

Fructose comes from fruit and serves a dual purpose in GU2O: its 15% dose of energy delivers a quick shot of carbohydrates to your working muscles while your stomach is working on the maltodextrin, and it’s also the sweet stuff that makes it irresistible to your taste buds. We don’t use a lot, because you don’t need it, and your mouth wouldn’t like it.

Natural Flavors & Colors optimize your desire to keep drinking GU2O. Studies have shown that artificial flavors that are too sweet inhibit your ability to stay hydrated. So we don’t use ’em. Citric acid plays a role here as well, enhancing the body’s ability to produce energy.

Here’s what GU2O doesn’t contain: Sickly sweet flavor and/or fancy fillers derived from artificial ingredients; excess carbohydrates which slow you down, or other additives that make sports drinks difficult to stomach.
